About Style Guile

Thank you so much for popping over to this page. If you’ve arrived here, I’m guessing that it’s because you’re interested to find out more about what you can expect from the blog, or maybe you’ve been reading for a while and you’re just interested to know how all of the pieces of the jigsaw fit together.

OK so I’m getting on a bit now. Next year I will be 50. I don’t consider myself to be in the least bit aspirational or inspirational (I find those phrases a bit up your own butt) but I have learnt a little about myself, and a lot about styling, along the way.  And because I’ve been around for a REALLY long time, I’ve also learned a little bit about beauty, interiors and lifestyle too. And now that two of our children are adults, occasionally – just very occasionally, I get the chance to go on some lovely trips away (sometimes with Mr G, sometimes without!) So as well as writing about fashion, sometimes also write about beauty, interiors and travel.

When it comes to the fashion side of things, Style Guile is designed to offer outfits which work on a daily basis for busy women and which reference different trends, different brands and different price points. I also try to include the odd dollop of humour into my posts and a pinch of irony. No-one in fashion should take themselves too seriously.

Style Guile’s feet are very firmly on the ground.  So, if like me you are a busy working woman, doing your best to juggle all of those glass balls, whilst occasionally dropping the odd one and where trying to step out of the front door looking half decent, rather than step off the world, is your aim for the day – Style Guile may just be for you!

Even if you aren’t the same shape or size as me, I hope that you can take inspiration from the outfits that I show.  Whether it is the colour combination of the clothes, the accessories that I use, the shapes of the pieces or the advice that I give, I hope that there will be something for everyone.  If you feel under-represented please drop me a line and I will see what I can do to rectify it.

I really hope that you enjoy reading Style Guile as much as I enjoy writing it. And thank you so much for reading!

I am so glad I stumbled across this blog via twitter – really really very pleased – I'm sat nodding about the juggling yet trying to do this, that and all inbetween! Oh and look half decent at the same time!

I've just found your blog via another website and I'm loving it already. I could really do with some ideas. I'm 42, 5'7" and a size 16. My friends always say I look smart – but I don't always want to look smart. Sometimes I'd like to look sexy or trendy or quirky. I do need to look smart for work – I'm a PA – but I'd like to introduce some of those other elements too (without spending a fortune).

Hi. I've recently come across your Blog thanks to the Daily Mail and I'm absolutely hooked. I'm a mum of 4 youngish (8,10,12&14) kids so shopping on a budget is a must so I love the fact that you get clothes from shops like New Look and Penneys as even if I think I'm totally skint can usually afford to buy something! I look forward to checking in to see what you're wearing.
