How to wear animal print when you’re over 40
Now I know that I still have Part 2 of last week’s blog post to complete but in the meantime, here’s a quick post on how to wear animal print.
For a change I’ve included a video which I’ve published on both Instagram and YouTube (as well as Facebook) but I know that not all of you are on those platforms and I didn’t want you to miss out.
Again this post is in answer to a reader’s question which read as follows:
“There are so many patterns out there at the moment. I’m 45 and bold patterns are way outside of my comfort zone but I’d like to know how to add little bits of animal print, as well as knowing which prints won’t date!”
Historically animal print has had all sorts of “Bet Lynch” (ie if we’re honest, cheap) associations with it but that’s no longer the case…or it shouldn’t be.
Animal print, and leopard print in particular, is now considered a neutral meaning that it can be worn with everything. It’s no longer just reserved for the evening and the “cheap” connotations are now a thing of the past, so there really has been a seismic shift over the years in our perception towards it.
Not only that but we now see lots of prints around from leopard, to snake, crocodile and zebra and in varying colour palettes and scales too. So it’s no longer a case of one size has to fit all and there is plenty of choice available.
Anyhow, I hope that you find the video helpful and that it gives you some styling inspiration, plus some tips and ideas if you’re contemplating how to wear animal print – especially if you’re just dipping your toe in the water. Beth x
