JD Williams – a brand with a whole new take on fashion

Like most of you I LOVE the warm weather but for some reason, winter clothes appeal to me so much more. There’s no denying that a beautiful summer dress holds a special place in my heart, but layers of snuggly jumpers, gorgeous winter coats, denim, glamourous boots (or practical boots) – well, they all hold such a thrill when we feel that September morning chill.

I’ve spent years styling women, helping them to create the perfect wardrobe. To do this well we all need a good mix of wardrobe staples and on-trend pieces – and mixing investment pieces with clever, cost effective, purchases is definitely the way forward. Keeping our eye on the brands that we know and love, plus looking to new ones helps to keep things fresh also stops us from getting stuck in that proverbial “rut.”

When JD Williams invited me to collaborate with them on a campaign surrounding their new collection, I jumped at the chance. I was invited to select some pieces from their new outerwear, knitwear, denim and boots collection. I had visited their press day last year and I loved what I saw. In particular, I seem to remember a pair of fringed, gold loafers which were amazing!

When a little bit of glam meets everyday, practical style – that’s when I’m happiest!

For those of you who may not be familiar with JD Williams, their aim is to help make life for us busy women, easier. They offer a great selection of stylish clothing in a wide range of sizes and…wait for it….footwear in wider widths which you would actually CHOOSE to wear! Their prices are super competitive and not only that but they offer a whole host of ways to shop, and pay for, our items. Additionally, and this is something that I always investigate when collaborating with a brand, they are members of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) which is “a ground breaking alliance of retailers, suppliers, trade unions and voluntary organisations who work together to improve the working lives of people all over the world.”

This coat has all that I need for the winter – it’s warm, on trend with its checks, plus the shot of yellow keeps it bright

So, when taking a look at the collection, what caught my eye? A checked wool coat with a shot of yellow running through it, leopard print boots, a glamourous teddy fur coat and soft polo neck knits. I also fell for studded boots and the THE most amazing straight legged jeans, with just the right amount of “slouch” in them.  All of these items I can mix and match with one another, along with other pieces that I already have in my wardrobe. So whilst I have my staples in the jeans and the jumper, I can inject some fun with the leopard print boots and the teddy coat. And the wool coat and studded boots could go from a meeting, to a day out in the shops or a trip to the theatre – depending on how they are styled.

What I love is that JD Williams is so inclusive to all, making stylish pieces available to us whatever our shape, whatever our age and whatever our budget. Having spent a whole lot of time browsing their collection and wearing their clothes, I think that it’s the secret gem to a great wardrobe and absolutely one that is worth exploring.
