Packing like a pro (!!!)

So if I ran a blog where everything was perfect, including my packing, this is what it would look like. There would be a carefully selected number of pieces in a simple colour palette which could be worn in a multitude of different ways over two weeks, to create an endless supply of stylish outfits.  There would also be a stylish piece of hand luggage into which everything would fit, therefore avoiding the need to check a bag in, together with all that entails (particularly at the other end).

As it is, this is the reality. A not insubstantial amount of different coloured clothes with varying prints. Knowing me the dread of having to wash everything when I get back will mean that I only wear a fraction of it so it will be more “Wear one dress to death” and “How to accessorise 50 different ways with loom bands” rather than anything else. My suitcase is just that – a suitcase plain and simple but note the use of the word “my”. Having selflessly packed everyone else’s clothes first, it just so happens that there’s a whole suitcase left for me. Whoever would have thought it?! I like to think of it as packer’s prerogative.

There are 2 kinds of style blogger imho: those who work in the fashion industry (stylists, magazines etc) and those who don't ( or else style real people not just models). There is one in particular who appears to think there is only one way to shop/dress/pack and that's her way. Her arrogance spoils an otherwise great blog. What you and most of the bloggers I follow do is to share your experiences warts and all. It is real, it is inclusive and it is uplifting. Thank you to you and all the 'real' women who blog for your honesty and humour. Hx

I agree, the blogs I like to read are all the ones that don't try too hard to be perfect! That said, I've started making my packing lists using polyvore and it really helps me edit what to bring. I'm just a visual person, so it works for me. Glad to hear you got a suitcase all to yourself. Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

I love your blogs because they are honest and real and show to other women that even Stylists have to juggle family/work and finding something decent to wear. Except for us 'Stylists' the pressure is even more on as we are 'expected' to look damn good everyday!!! What I mainly love though is your humour, your blogs are so funny and give me a chuckle most days. Now I really must stop avoiding the packing. Leaving for Spain today and not a dot put in a suitcase, I feel this is avoidance somehow!! x
