This is probably going to be the shortest post in the history of the blog but if I don’t finish up here soon I’ll have suitcases under my eyes tomorrow, rather than just bags.
I look a bit “buttoned up” and a bit “tucked in” in this outfit but as I was once described on Mumsnet as being too “tucked in” it would seem quite apt. That phrase made me laugh, largely because it’s absolutely true. As a child I would spend hours tucking my vest into my pants and if it wasn’t right, back to square one I went until it was all smooth and as it should be.
I’m wearing a Hobbs jacket, Gap jeans, All Saints boots, Cos collar, H&M jumper and Orla Kiely bag.
Out of interest, is anyone else a fan of being all tucked in or is it just me?
Hahaha! This post though short and sweet has had me chuckling aloud as I used to do the exact same thing with my school vests into my lovely uniform grey flannel briefs! And the legacy if those days stays with me still as on cold days I still like to have neatly tucked layers all smooth and streamlined! Mum22Girls (yes, 2 and certainly not 22! Thank God!)
Don't tempt me with grey flannel briefs – they sound warm, cosy and definitely have the capacity for things to be tucked into them! Good to hear that the post made you chuckle – that's always nice. Thanks!
Are you a Mumnsnetter then Beth…… I have never heard of that expression before but having thought about it, yes, I can see what they mean by you being "tucked". You always look very together and smart and everything in its place…not a bad thing surely. Me on the other hand, although I do like to be well tucked into bed and do like my vest tucked right down into my knickers on cold draughty days, I am definitely best described as "untucked". My mother tried to get me "tucked" but I always disappointed. Still "untucked" today. I thing "done" is another way of saying it and "undone" or "laid back". 🙂
I think "laid back", "relaxed" and "un-structured" are all very now! The tucked in comment was meant as a dig in that particular context but I thank you for your interpretation too!
I started tucking in this winter. Just my vest though. And it's a great deterrent when the Grumps thinks it's funny to stick his cold hands on my back and finds himself thwarted by a thermal vest!
Hi Sue. So you have a hilarious husband too do you? Me too – and others as well it seems. That's also a favourite trick of my husband but like yours, he's thwarted by "the vest".
I can be only be tucked in if I have something untucked over the topJacqui
Hi Jacqui – yes, I see where you are coming from in that sense. To much tucking in of top layers can have its disadvantages. However tucking in of a vest has very few, I find!
I'd ignore MN….I'm a big tucker inner and like buttoning up too! Nice look, love a blazer done up.
Hi Claire – sound advice, thank you. Nice to hear from a fellow tucker inner and button upper!
I like a bit of tucked in and a bit hanging out! Not sure quite what that say's about me? xx
I think that it says that you are a free spirit (and not a wimp like me)!xx
Oh I love a good tuck, but in a casual way it's definitely an Art form Beth! love that blazer!!
I think that we might be a nation of secret tuckers (hope that no-one reads that too quickly, it could come out all wrong). Thanks re the blazer – the temperature is just about right for it now. I spotted one in the Hobbs sale yesterday too. Grrrr.
